The content outline of this free OnlineĀ PMPĀ®Ā Math program is very comprehensive.

1. Project Selection methods ā€“Ā Project Selection falls under Project Integration Management Knowledge Area. In this section we have introduced some of the techniques used while performing project selection, we have seen people getting questions related to PV(Present Value), FV(Future Value), NPV(Net Present Value), IRR(Internal Rate of Return), BCR(Benefit cost ratio) & Payback period.

2. Critical Path management and PDM ā€“Ā This chapter covers- Making Project schedule using precedence Diagram Method (PDM) including four types of dependencies or logical relationships. Finish-to-start (FS), Finish-to-finish (FF), Start-to-start (SS), Start-to-finish (SF). It further covers how to calculate float in the Schedule Network diagram, several books and reference material talks about various ways to calculate Early Start (ES) for activity node, like some suggest to start ES of the first activity with 0 and others suggest it to start with 1, we intend to explain the methods, their similarities and differences.

3. Earned Value Management ā€“Ā The chapters in this section covers how to calculate Earned Value (EV). This value is the amount of work we are getting against our budgeted amount, the earned value calculation we use budgeted amount budget at completion (BAC). Earned value measures the performance (SPI, CPI), cost and schedule variance (CV & SV). It also covers various methods and formulae to calculate ETC (Estimate To Complete) and EAC (Estimate at Completion) depending on different scenarios. The cricket analogy used to exemplify performance index.

4. EMV (Expected Monetary value) & Decision Tree ā€“Ā This chapter covers detailed explanation of how Decision Tree and EMV for each decision path is calculated. We have to identify whether we want to build a plan or upgrade it. Most of the professionals find this decision tree analysis diagram very confusing.

5. Contract Types & Point of Total AssumptionThis section covers various contract types and formulae to calculate incentive in each type. PTA is the point above which the seller bears all the losses of an additional cost overrun on a fixed price ā€˜incentive feeā€™ (FPIF or FPI) contract.

6. Communication Channels ā€“Ā This can just be done by applying a simple formula n (n-1) /2 but a large number of questions from PMPĀ® aspirants related to when to include project manager and when not to. The confusion mainly surrounded around what is the value of ā€˜n.ā€™ This chapter takes care of this confusion.
